The invention relates to a non-invasive device for evaluating functional trunk stability in applications such as medicine, rehabilitation, kinesiology, and sports performance assessment. The system combines an inflatable cuff positioned around the waist, a pressure sensor for indirect measurement of intra-abdominal pressure, electrodes for monitoring abdominal and lumbar muscle activity, and a controlled mechanical perturbation module.
During externally induced perturbations, the device simultaneously records changes in muscle activation and intra-abdominal pressure, enabling comprehensive assessment of neuromuscular responses and trunk stabilization mechanisms. The acquired signals are synchronized and processed by an analysis module that calculates key temporal and amplitude-based performance parameters.
The invention provides a fast, reliable, and user-friendly alternative to invasive assessment techniques and enables objective monitoring of trunk stability in healthy individuals as well as in rehabilitation, training, aging, and human movement research applications.
