Measuring composition and method of determining the sound color of musical instruments

The invention introduces a novel measurement system and method for objective determination and quantification of the timbre of musical instruments. The solution enables the conversion of complex acoustic characteristics into multidimensional numerical coordinates, allowing comparison, classification, and monitoring of changes in individual instruments.

The system uses a multi-microphone measurement setup for repeatable sound acquisition and advanced harmonic spectral analysis based on Fourier transformation and PCA/SVD statistical methods. A harmonic vector space is generated to create a unique acoustic fingerprint of an instrument, enabling objective evaluation of similarities between instruments.

The technology can support instrument manufacturing, sales, maintenance, and assessment, as well as damage and counterfeit detection, sound engineering, and music production applications.
